The crossheads in pumps perform the following main functions:
1. Power transfer from the crank mechanism to the plunger:

2. Ensuring the reciprocating motion of the plunger:
The design of the crosshead, interacting with the guides, converts the rotational motion of the crank into the reciprocating motion of the plunger.

The crosshead perceives and distributes axial loads arising from high pressure of the working fluid, preventing damage to the plunger and other parts.
4. Increased reliability and resource:
The use of a crosshead makes it possible to reduce the bending loads on the plunger, increasing its service life and the reliability of the pump.
